PROJECTS PHOTOGRAPHED BY SHANNON MCGRATH

Victoria University’s new Professional Development Unit Room speaks to the University's future aspirations as an innovative and leading educational hub.

With a vision to design a space that resembles more of a corporate than institutional organisation, Victoria University’s Building P is set to prepare graduates for the ‘real world'. This will be achieved by granting students opportunities to work in teams, think critically and independently, analyze and present.

Creating a series of spaces dictated by task, the new building includes collaborative spaces such as technology enabled meeting rooms. These can be utilised for group projects, preparation for presentations and function as dedicated workstations for individuals or groups undertaking focused work.

The new space exudes life, with a sense of light and brightness in what was originally a cavernous basement. Key to creating this unique and agile space was the concept of a design that was not aligned to that of an original classroom setting.
