The new townhouses are located in an area full of historic terrace houses, and are contemporary reinterpretations of the traditional terrace form.
Constructed to a similar scale they feature the familiar elements of double storetyed front facades , (with a smaller third storey invisible from rthe front) small courtyards and windowless lateral walls. Although built side by side the houses are fully self-contained and do not share a party wall.
Inside the townhouses bear no resemblance at all to thier 19th century counterparts.
The most striking internal feature is the sense of spaciousness created in the long narrow buildings. Much of this is due to structural features- such as the consolidation of traffic areas, minimum use of partitions and the incorporation of a mezzanine floor.
