PROJECTS PHOTOGRAPHED BY JENNIFER SOO

The aim was to improve and enlarge the spaces of a narrow 2 bedroom terrace.

The owner didnt want a gun barrel effect open space yet did want a more open plan than had previously existed.

With the house in a state of disrepair it was decided that the terrace should be gutted internally. It was reconstructed into a 1 bedroom house with living, dining, kitchenon the ground floor - master bedroom on the first floor and a new large attic space that doubles as a second living room or guest bedroom on the second floor.

The designers developed a variety of interesting subtle forms to both the exterior and interior using roof shapes. The curved roof line of the 1st floor extension is an example of this simplicity. Here slight variations of height allow for clerestory-style windows/ skylights over internal spaces. The curved roof line has allowed for new gable windows to be included.
The interiors were "small scale" luxury - whereby the more expensive finishes were frugally used to great effect.

The architect has created a great deal of space from a limited amount of site -
A TARDIS so to speak
