Designed as a quiet and respectful insertion into the original fabric, the renovation optimises light, space and views to the parkland at the rear, and increases the size of living and bedroom spaces within the existing house.
Designed in 1966 by AK Lines, Macfarlane and Marshall, the original fabric was completely intact. This included extensive timber panelling and internal blockwork partitions.
Russell & George retained the existing fabric where possible, and reconfigured some rooms to add space and light, while not messing with the original proportions. The rear of the house was extended by three metres under a similar roofline.
The result is a house with more generous living spaces that interact and engage with the views and garden, and a seamless integration of old and new.
