David Hicks' design challenge was to transform the existing 20-year-old apartment into a chic, expansive home, resolving the problems inherited with the floor plan by reducing the number of rooms.
David divided the apartment into two main zones: one half became "a large space for environment", with the balcony enclosed to become a dining area; the other half was reconfigured into a master bedroom suite, office and guest quarters. Through the centre runs the 'spine': a hallway devoted to generous concealed storage space and a laundry, as well as access to the powder room, hall cupboard and a separate study.
The result is a visually stunning yet practical flow of spaces, highlighted by luxurious touches which have always been characteristic of David's work.
