PROJECTS IN MELBOURNE

PROJECTS PHOTOGRAPHED BY JOHN GOLLINGS

A giant floor to ceiling window looks out onto a breathtaking abundance of plant life in the heart of this modern living space.

Using colour doesn't necessarily mean having to mix bright colours. The designers here have used just 1 natural hue to calm down the environment. Neutrals and clean lines butt up against the warmth of light-soaked spaces and soft furnishings.

The owners brief called for a large single room, however the solution was more than just that . It is more than just a basic room, it is a room of intrigue and interest.

As you climb the staircase towards the bedrooms on the first floor, you come across a study on the landing. Another floor to ceiling window allows you to look down on the proliferation of greenery below. The study was designed to hang in the tree tops.

The architect used indigenous and recycled woods throughout the house, as well as honed marble and frosted glass (a nice luminous way of dividing spaces)

The furniture is simple and had been selected to hopefully stand the test of time
