The front courtyards & ground floor level have been raised above footpath level to provide a natural height barrier & buffer for visual privacy from pedestrians.
The open plan layout to the downstairs living & 'day' spaces help achieve maximum exposure to the lake from all parts of the ground floor, whilst also providing the illusion of grand spaces.
Blade wing walls provide privacy & isolation from the adjoining properties, presenting cinematographic frames of the lake whilst also capturing the warm winter northern sun. These blade walls also enable the user to be drawn into the ambience of the location at all times whilst functioning in the house.
Greenery & water features maintain the natural connection with the lake. Upstairs the bedrooms appear to float within the tree canopies with fully glazed bi-folding walls opening toward the park via 'green' balconies cantilevering to its setting & disguising the access road below.
A uniform palette of materials were chosen to complement the contempory theme, whilst providing practical surfaces for the client for ease of cleaning.
Gallery art walls provide the backdrop for the client's internationally recognised Australian contemporary art collection, tying together colours & the language of the home.
