The scheme entailed the transformation of a former meat processing factory into a modern photographic studio.
The open plan space contains three solid planal elements. The highest being a floating circular mezzanine perched on the roof trusses. Immediately below a jewel-like box structure houses a dark room, kitchen, bathroom and a stair connecting to the mezzanine level.
Overall, the rectangular space terminates at one wall where the floor meets the wall in a sweeping curve to form a photographic backdrop. Completed in 1991, the flexibility of the design was demonstrated by its recent transformation into the Sarah Cottier Gallery.
