The wave like roof harmonises with the water views below, and is dictated by the east-west barrel vaulted ceiling which are accommodated within.
Fitted with highlight windows, the vaults fill the house with natural light and provide excellent tree top views.
The roof design also allows winter sunlight into the house's core. The roof plays a primary role in keeping the house very dry and light. The natural bush setting also helps to filter the light and acts as a beautiful backdrop at the same time.
Whilst the roof looks complex it was able to be accomplished using lightweight metal and steel. This has largely eliminated the need for internal supports in the open-plan living spaces below.
With such excessive heat build exposures in summer the architect carefully constructed the roof overhangs and upturns of the gutters to ensure shade tot he glazed areas in summer. Tinitng on the windows was used to prevent glare from the water, as well as helping in achieve better energy efficiency ratings.
The waterfront home also features a stunning one-bedroom "boathouse", together with a deepwater jetty and slipway.
