The Reeves project is an alteration/addition.
The orginal house was set into a excavated hill.
It had four rooms conventionally arrangged around a central corridor on the two habitable floors.
One of the early designs was to retain the extents of the original envelope. The exterior shell was then used as a sort of coat rack, perhaps turned inside out.
The modern spaces were planned according to the boundary of the shell. Originally, this house lacked sophiticated relationships with the high rear garden, view to the sea, and view of a nearby ridge line.
The relationships between the house and its natural surroundings were developed so they could be experienced or accessable from the interior.
Views to a distant outside ambience are experiences drawn into rooms through openings in the encasing shell.
