9 new buildings face inwards to gardens and a central east west street for best solar access to the site
Terrace row housing is built to the north and towers to the south of this internal street. The high rise apartments are arranged in a cross over sectional format which improves ventilation, views and sunlight.
The development was built in four stages around an internal street and consisted of adapting the historically significant Waverley (Reschs Brewery) and Reckitts buildings, and the creation of fourteen new buildings to contain 69 3-bed, 293 2-bed and 198 1-bedroom apartments and undercover parking. Community facilities include a child care centre, meeting room, a 25m lap pool, gymnasium, commercial/retail facilities. The final stage was completed in May 2000.
The site is organised around the internal street. The street becomes the focus of the buildings around the sites perimeter looking within to open space and landscaping to create a peaceful park like environment. Many units utilise a cross over design to maximise cross ventilation, solar access and views. Visitor parking is along this street, and pedestrian routes link all residential blocks, Moore Park Golf Course (via a new pedestrian bridge), Edmund Reschs Reserve, Bourke Street, Crescent Street and the ACI site to the south.
The end result is a group of buildings around the site perimeter overlooking a series of landscaped open spaces. Each building has a different character but is linked by the tree lined street and a series of pedestrian walkways.
This project has created a community, fully integrated with its surrounding urban environment
