Quintessentially French in outlook, Marais Melbourne takes the diversity of the Marais Quarter to heart, introducing for the very first time to the Melbourne market an exclusive range of distinctive local and international designs each handpicked for their sophistication, individuality and flair. As with its namesake, a visit to Marais Melbourne holds a sense of mystery and intrigue, tumbling you into a world far removed from the everyday.
In keeping with its namesake, the brief was to create a luminous space reminiscent of French fashion salons, but with a clean, contemporary feel. The client had a very strong idea about direction and 'feel' and wanted Hecker Phelan and Guthrie to interpret this into a retail space. They had already bought a number of beautiful antique pieces, which said rnore to us than any written brief.
