The office Is a place for mercantile activity. A place to socialise, a place to communicate corporate values to clients, a place to house Infrastructure and a place to cement the activities of a company

When designing corporate environments one must consider a diverse array of requirements and ultimately deliver a designed product that will assist a company in getting about their business.

The well-considered, modern work environment generates solutions to the ever present complexity of corporate needs Issues such as communication between stadff, occupational health and safety, brand Identity, internal environmental quality, technical infrastructure, staff turnover, and churn.

Some office design projects require that the design practice work in an often intimate relationship with the client to asisst them in resolving new ways in which the company can approach their structure of communication and ultimately the ways in which people can come together and spend massive periods of their life interacting in what are often pressured circumstances,

In judging the IDEA corporate category, we were looking for a project that exemplified all of these considerations . A corpoarte envionment that has considered the fundamental design needs of space planning and infrastructure, a place that would add value to the business of the client and a place that would provide a healthy and safe working environment for staff,

Delivering all of these requirements is a considerable task-yet doing so while maintaining a well considered and inspirational design language is quite another thing.

Group GSA's JP Morgan fltout brief required that the practice provide a significantly evolved workplace for a large workforce. This project was to house the merged staff and technical resources of Chase Manhattan Bank, Ord Minnett and JP Morgan. This significant restructure was completed in a staged development that allowed a continuation of trading throughout the project, while resolving a design dialogue for the merging of three distinct sets of corporate goals, cultures and values.

The project is consistent in Its high level of detailing and resolution, providing sophisticated and inspirational client meeting areas, highly efficient dealing facilities, enclosed meeting rooms of various sizes and configurations, boardroom facilities and tranquil breakout areas for staff to relax within.

JP Morgan was delivered by Group GSA on time and on budget and allowed the release of 3,500 square metres of tenancy space through strong planning.

In an overall sense, through the design of this project, Group GSA have assisted their client in defining the future of their amalgamated corporate resources. They have provided a sophisticated device for the communication of the bank's brand and have created a working environment that respects the needs of a highly motivated workforce performing within a high-pressure sector of the business community.
