The new 2340sqm Melbourne office for ISIS, a construction and project management company established over 20 years ago, brings together the company’s renewed branding, workplace culture and their skill in the construction industry.
The brand driver, ‘Transformation at Work’, reflects their day-to-day business of transforming spaces for clients through construction. Construction details are clever, robust and honest. Spaces are rich in experience as the user moves through the two-level fitout: materials vary in use and selection, lighting and ceiling heights change, and moods shift.
Planning centres on an eliptical overlay that rationalises the complex building geometry, while continuously revealing the eclectic spaces and places within the fitout. The design seeks to expose the building fabric, utilises raw construction materials while still controlling noise levels and delivering a refined, contemporary commercial office.y with 5 Star certification.
The project includes reception, workspace for 118 staff, 2 boardrooms, open bid rooms, meeting rooms, training rooms, a large lounge / café space, a gym with associated showers / change rooms, accessible bathrooms, and a communication area.
As the fitout is over two consecutive levels, one of the key innovations is the creation of a new generous curved internal stair connecting the two floors. Located within this stair void is a ‘stair lounge’, which becomes an informal contractor meeting and waiting area with an adjacent bench for viewing drawings.
With 5 Star Green Star rating the aim, we have integrated a number of sustainability initiatives into the scheme, such as use of sustainable-certified construction materials and/or recycled /found materials, plants and a greenwall, the majority of wall construction, joinery and finish is FSC certified plywood using standard sheet sizes as efficiently as possible with no additional applied finish except for a Geca approved sealant. Simple honest construction methods combined with minimal amount of walls and use of materials has been adopted.
