This trio of almost identical townhouses occupies a compact corner site in Melbourne's Richmond. As conceived by Cunningham Martyn Design, the dwellings exploit passive solar heating and natural cooling so as to be energy efficient and to minimize environmental impact. The exteriors are partly clad in thermal cement sheets, while the interiors use tows toxicity plywoods. The dwellings are arranged on three levels, with small pebbled court, garage and children's bedroom at ground level; living-dining area with corner kitchen zone opening onto a small balcony at the intermediate level; and master bedroom with ensuite bathroom at top.
