The original Osbourne Hotel, gave way to the Dead Rat, The Rat and Parrott and now the Fringe Bar. The original building had been interfered with over a number of refurbishments in the past, and most part of the building are unrecognizable to the original turn of the century building. The labyrinth of walls throughout the ground level have been removed as far as the structure would allow. The intention was to remove the stigma of an enclosed private bar and allow the hotel to be transparent to the street and reveal the activity inside. For people to see out and to be seen. The intention of the ground level area was to create of a number of spaces around a central bar, with differing feels and seating styles. The interiors are set within the framework of the existing structure and fabric, incorporating the use of warm tones and soft furnishings . The upstairs area has been used a private pool lounges. The existing rooms have been retained as this was the most original part of the hotel.
