Fraser Easson House
SEARCH
The U-shaped plan of the house is glimpsed through an amazing kinetic screen of sculptural sticks. The breeze moves the sticks, creating an audible welcome. The eastern courtyard sits centrally behind the screen, flanked by the north and south wings of the house. On arrival, there is a clear and pure language to the house, which is upheld thoughout the external treatment. The wings are clad in dark-coloured weatherboards, while the rectangular strip of the central west-facing volume contrasts in white-bagged brickwork. As you move around the house, the dark wings recede while the white brick remains an unapologetic addition.
