A co-operation between Curve9 (interior design) and Marsh Cashman (architecture) led to the realisation of the clients expectations in a very "watery realisation"
The aim was to create a living space which captured and was responsive to the surrounding landscape and encapsulated their personality and lifestyle.
Firstly the apartments were stripped back to their bones retaining internal walls only where required for privacy needs. This then opened up a series of vistas to the gardens and to the waterfront , as well as allowing air to cross flow through the apartment.
Within this matrix a series of elements were inserted to provide the functions of kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, fish-tank,and storage cupboards. These were abstract and enigmatic, almost minimalist sculpture - expressing character in finish yet tied by common threads of design .
The result is an intriguing place of fun and discovery.
The apartment is low (almost at tidal level)
The new combined apartment, floats over the harbour like a pontoon or houseboat on a lake.
The focus is now on the panorama by creating a flowing subdued place for hibernation ie hide the nessy , expose the sensual.
The outlook dominates the apartment however it has enough internal personality to hold its own.
Like any pared back interior it takes discipline to maintain the zen like atmosphere which has been created. In any event it will still look good and function well ( no matter what internal accessoried items are used ) due to its openness- alla- beach house feel
