PROJECTS IN SYDNEY

The house was built circa 1837 by Mortliner Lewis, Colonial Architect. In 1854 it became the Marine Hotel changed later to the Greenwich Pier Hotel - a pier ran from there out into the bay for some time.

During its history it has housed a zoo and an open-air picture theatre. It became the Royal Hotel carrying the name until 1923. A year later it was conveyanced to the Vaucluse Municipal Council serving as Council Chambers until 1948 when amalgamation with Woollahra took place after 53 years of separation.

The project comprised the refurbishment and adaptive reuse Dunbar House located within Robertson Park in Watsons Bay. The Tearoom Group’s vision was to reinvigorate a dilapidated heritage icon and convert it into a state of the art Hospitality venue.

The project objectives were to restore and adaptively re-use the existing building, converting it into a world renowned wedding and corporate events venue. The project budget was established at $3.4 Million excluding fixtures, fittings and equipment. The build programme commenced in August 2010 and included a construction and refurbishment period of 5 months.

The completed project is a fine example of a heritage restoration and adaptive reuse of a significant asset in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
