Artist Ken Done's house on Sydney's Middle Harbour, introduces another element into the life of architect Glenn Murcutt — his battle with local councils.
Although it proved to be a great and exciting place to live, Murcutt had to fight the local Mosman Council for nine months before plans were approved.
Under present regulations, it would no longer be allowed. (Murcutt explains this " I have built a building that does not have pitched roofs, does not have terracotta tiles on it, that is occupying a site cover which did comply, but essentially they didn't like the idea of a modern building in Mosman.")
