Calibre have occupied retail space on Melbourne's Chapel Street for several years, but a recent relocation has seen the store increase their sophisticated presence. In a modest two storey 20th century building, Designer David Hicks has simplified the façade with the removal of awnings and signage. Inside, lighting is now diffused to allow the materials and surfaces speak for themselves. Terrazzo tiles, floor to ceiling mirrors and a chrome clothes rack are balanced with a stained Victorian ash ceiling and ebony mahogany desks. Hicks has succeeded in creating a retail environment that reflects Calibre's quality and glamour.
