"built envelope" occupies the corner of ben boyd road and cheal lane, neutral bay. it is a mixed use development over 4 levels on a very small 73 msq footprint. ground floor is a cafe and garage, level 1 was intended as an office but will now be cafe, levels 2 and 3 are an apartment with level 2 used as an office. as the building rises up, the southern wall along cheal lane tappers to meet the building envelope. access to all levels is by a stair along the northern boundary wall which is punctuated with glass blocks providing pattern and light. the palette of materials is simple and rich; zinc, timber and glass.
