Bel Mondo
SEARCH
Belmondo is located in Sydney's Historic Rocks district, on the top floor of what was Sydney Cove's original bond store. This dramatic warehouse space offers evocative views of the two best known Sydney Icons, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.
Longtime Manfredi architect, Luigi Rosselli, designed bel mondo, all the time working under the constraints of a heritage listed premises. It is this heritage listing which has given the restaurant one of it's most talked about features, a raised, stage-like kitchen. The analogy is often made that the restaurant is like theatre, each service a "performance"
The Manfredi family has been a pioneer of fine Italian food for over a decade. Chef Stefano Manfredi incorporates the timeless tradition of Northern Italian Cuisine with the Australian ability to re-imagine and re-interpret. For twelve years, the family ran a small, successful restaurant in a back lane in the Sydney inner city suburb of Ultimo.
Bel mondo is the family's entry onto the world stage. Located in Sydney's historic Rocks district, the restaurant represents a long awaited natural progression for the Manfredi team into a larger, more centrally located site which incorporates the tradition of the old with the excitement and creativity of the new.
Bel mondo combines two distinct dining experiences in the one heritage warehouse: Bel mondo main dining room, offering one of Sydney's most celebrated dining experiences, and Antibar at bel mondo, the casual wine and antipasto bar
Mother Franca and her son Stefano Manfredi continue to redefine Italian/Australian food from their stage-set kitchen in this Rosselli-revamped warehouse in The Rocks. And Franca's gnocchi continues, in the words of one diner, to be 'better than sex'. The upfront Anti Bar offers just about the best value super snack bar in town - and is a good starting or finishing point for a Rocks crawl.
