PROJECTS PHOTOGRAPHED BY SHARRIN REES

Previously a small auditorium was located on the ground floor. It was removed to allow the gallery bookshop to move from exhibition space to a more suitable location.

The Centenary Auditorium is located in an excavated space beneath the historic building fronting the Domain.

It is entered via the temporary exhibition galleries enabling any audio/visual component of a temporary exhibition to be integrated with the display.

The 96 seat auditorium has full projection and lecture facilities and cloth wall panels to provide an acoustic environment suitable for speech and amplified sound.

A separate entry ramp accommodates wheelchair access across the change of level from the exhibition space to the auditorium and also provides a spatial and acoustic transition between gallery and auditorium. Programmable lights in this space allow it to assume a character appropriate to the exhibition currently in place.
