A makeover for one of the apartments within the building gives it a glamourous and elegant edge.
With a brief to open up the apartment as much as possible, David Hicks removed the high bench and storage cupboards which seperated the kitchen and living areas. One wall of kitchen cupboards were removed and replaced with a feature wall of mirrors. The mirror extends the feeling of space.
The kitchen was designed to be a seamless island cube box ( all handles, sinks etc eliminated from view)
Instead of a series of screens to delineate areas internally the designer has used a series of differing ceiling heights. Like the curved walls, which are angled to catch the view, the stepped ceiling gradually increase to 3 mtrs in the lounge area.
While the move to a smaller space required a certain degree of furniture rationalisation, Hicks was mindful of the owner couples' previous life. Hence some antiques etc were kept to provide a balanced eclectic feeling to the living environments.
From the front door to the curved balcony, the apartment appears seamless.
