The Bond

Architecture is an expression of the beliefs and values of the people who create it, a powerful statement of collective aspiration. When successfully realised, architecture can become a symbol of the kind of future we want to create. A building the length of a football field, sitting at the edge of the harbour, in Australia's largest CBD with a façade constantly changing to match the daily environment is a sight hard to ignore. It also tangibly illustrates the unexpected social benefits that can be derived from an innovative approach to the application of industry leading sustainable principles. Located on Hickson Road Millers Point, 30 The Bond is a commercial property comprising nine levels of approximately 20,000 square metres nett lettable area. Inherent in the quality of the spaces is a capacity to provide a high level of diversity and social interaction, recognising the wide range of activities that articulate the working day. 30 The Bond is more than just a building for Lend Lease. It embodies the aspirations of an organisation committed to change and evolution, and the recognition that this project has the unique capacity to be a catalyst for change, not just through the occupation of the end product but through the process that has conceived it within strict commercial parameters. This makes the project a very powerful benchmark for future developments by advancing ESD principles without compromising commercial objectives.
