INTRODUCTION
Born in Udine in 1952.
After attending Art College in Venice, he attended university in Florence and Venice. He graduated in Architecture in 1979.
1978, the first exhibition dedicated entirely to his works was held at the Galleria Plurima in Udine. Until then, Franzolini had taken part in numerous joint exhibitions.
Franzolini is an industrial and furniture designer whose has created pieces for such firms as Knoll, Cappellini, Montana and more recently Moroso
During the late seventies, he became increasingly involved in the fields of architecture and industrial design, the former becoming manifest thanks to his involvement in numerous building conservation and restructuring projects, while the latter saw the artist competing in many architecture-related competitions.
Like Magistretti and many other designers in Italy, Franzolini has been active across the spectrum of creative fields from fine art to architecture to the various arts of the craftsman. He uses a variety of materials—wood, metal and all the varieties of plastic—with confidence on both the large and small scale. Franzolini's work epitomizes the integrity, the technical innovation and the ingenious forms for which Italian design has long been admired.
